Dear Resident:
My vision for Sauk Village is to create a clean, safe and inclusive community where people love to live and work -- and the following is a Strategic Plan, or a roadmap for getting us there.
Created for the resident of Sauk Village, this plan contains bold visions for our future with specific and measurable goals in investing in our community for future generations, public safety and neighborhood development. It is constructed around five objectives that have driven our team since the beginning of my administration:

This document is divided into several sections -- the Vision for Sauk Village; the Values and Guiding Principles of the Hanks Administration; the Five Objectives; the broad strategies we will embrace to achieve those objectives and, finally, 16 Strategic Goals.
Woven throughout this plan is an understanding of our current budget constraints and the very real need to continue to reduce the structural budget imbalance. Since my administration started, we have focused on addressing the projected deficit faced by Sauk Village. Through implementation of efficiencies such as reducing overtime usage, attrition of some positions, reduced litigation, holding down payroll increases, and increasing fees where appropriate, we have estimated to eliminate some of the projected deficit however there is more that will need to be accomplished. Embracing the broad strategies and related goals in this plan will also help eliminate more of the imbalance. This plan also recognizes that we will most likely need an optional new revenue source voted on by our citizens to achieve many of our objectives.
This strategic plan will be implemented across each department’s objectives and goals – and as is the nature of a strategic plan, some of the goals will evolve with time. This is a living, flexible document that will be updated annually.
Bringing this strategic plan to reality rests not only with the Village Board -- but with all the residents who have a role in helping Sauk Village becoming the best community, with the best local government, in America.
