David is married to Linda and they have ten children. David and Linda love living in Sauk Village and are excited to be part of a town that has so much to offer--great quality of life, wonderful people, and many opportunities.
David Hanks was first elected to the Sauk Village Board in April, 1999 and was successfully re-elected for a third four-year term in April, 2007, as Village Trustee.
In November 2012 the former mayor submitted his immediate resignation and David humbly accepted the appointment of Acting Mayor for the remainder of the current term On April 9, 2013 the residents elected David Mayor of Sauk Village
Since serving on the Village Board his assignments have included chairing the Economic Development Committee, Commissioner on the Calumet Corridor Council, Route 30 Corridor Council and the South Suburban Commuter Rail Corridor Sub-Committee and is currently a member on State Representative Anthony De Luca's Safety Advisory Committee.
As our country was starting to slide into the worse economic times since the “Great Depression” David was challenged with the opportunity to work with local businesses, financial institutions and government agencies to assist our residents. In the Fall of 2005, David was appointed as Chair of the Sauk Village Housing Committee.
As Chair, David was given the task of forming a committee from the ground up. He brought together key individuals to form the Sauk Village Housing Commission.
With the assistance of local businesses the commission has hosted many workshops over the years to assist residents with home improvements and financial aid. In 2010 the Sauk Village Housing Commission hosted the first NACA “Home Save/Purchase” workshop for residents in the far South region.
David is also a Quality Engineer for ACCO Brands in Lake Zurich, IL. He is responsible for supervising inbound auditors and technicians for direct products and quality control at their manufacturing facility in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.
David is a longtime resident of Sauk Village and has served the community in his youth as a cadet on the Sauk Village Police Department, and later as a Commissioner on the Zoning Board of Appeals.
David considers it an honor and privilege to serve the people of Sauk Village in his role on the Village Board and encourages citizens to contact him regarding their concerns, suggestions, and comments about the Village of Sauk Village.
